Request for Tenders to be issued in June

Tender and construction documentation for stage 1 of the Tereora College Redevelopment Project is nearing completion. Requests for tenders will be issued from mid-June.

Stage 1 of the project comprises of the construction of two new buildings that will house Technologies, student support, student research centre, and administration. Stage 1 also includes a new access road along the western boundary line and improvements to water and drainage.

Tenders will be called for on a turn-key basis. A head contractor will be selected following this tender process to implement all civil works, building construction, and to deliver the required equipment and furnishing. The main structure of both buildings will be concrete masonry block, clad with a metal roof. The buildings will be 2-storey, together totalling a footprint of 2700m2. Key features include large aluminium windows and doors for maximum natural lighting and ventilation, along with sound absorption walls, ceilings and floor coverings to improve comfort and learning. The new and innovative learning spaces are designed to support current and future learning and teaching needs.

Contract works will commence in December 2016, with completion expected to be reached in December 2017.

The Request for Tenders will be advertised in the local media, on www.procurement.gov.ck, and on the New Zealand government electronic tenders portal www.gets.govt.nz.

Plans for relocating those parts of the school directly affected by construction will also be finalised in June. Relocation preparations will take place before December 2016. School will remain onsite throughout the construction period.
